Abiqua Middle school exists to provide our
students with the tools to transition into high school as well
as a challenging and supportive middle school experience.
Students stay together with the same teachers through sixth,
seventh and eighth grades and experience more hands-on,
life-related learning activities, integrated instruction and
cooperative learning groups. Teachers solidify the Abiqua
tradition of holding students responsible for their learning,
teaching them strategies for learning on their own (such as good
study habits, organizational and time management skills), and
providing them a challenging curriculum that will enable a
successful transition to high school.
Abiqua Alumni return to share their high school experience.
Abiqua facilitates social support activities to give students
the opportunity to get to know and develop positive
relationships with older students and other incoming students of
area high schools.
Teachers and administrators continue to support parents and help
them stay involved in their child’s education by keeping parents
informed about transition activities and encouraging them to
participate.
